Interesting experiment, and equally interesting results! I asked a bunch of "AI's" to give me some inspiration for my website, and here are the results!
But first, a short explanation of why:
Those close to me already know that I've been studying game development for over five years now. Unity 6 is my platform/engine of choice, although I have experimented the other major ones - Unreal and Godot. I made a bunch of prototypes, as a normal student would during their studies, and actually finished a couple of games! Made a copy of Sokoban and "Kaboom!" a VERY old game from the Atari 2600 era, alongside with a few "tower defense" and "survival" type of mini-games. In short, I gained some experience during these last 5 years...
In April this year I was contacted by a company in Brasil to develop them a game. My first REAL commissioned project! I had to take it seriously, of course. Therefore, I needed a new company, new logo, new domain and... a new website!
I then went into ChatGPT, as any normal dev would, to ask for some "inspiration". I actually said "I want some inspiration..." on my original prompt, like if the AI could somehow "be inspired" or, even more unrealistic, "inspire" a human. Of course, ChatGPT failed miserably at the task...
But that's when I started experimenting a bunch of other Image generation AI's to see if any of those could really give me something aesthetic pleasing, anything that could at least pass as a professionally designed website. And I was VERY surprised at the results, and here they are:
ChatGPT couldn't even draw a proper website. The designed looks like a playing card from a board game. Terrible.

Sora was equally bad, but in a weird way... I tried a few models and the one that gave the best result was the "Film Noir". The problem is the image is super dark, and not what I wanted at all. Conclusion: not bad... but not good either.

Nano Banana didn't live to all the hype about it, results were very unsatisfactory. The design are very amateuristic and not really usable.

Now... Midjourney REALLY surprised me! Same exact prompt used for all the engines above, right? But Midjourney gave me FOUR images, with templates for a website, and ALL FOUR were REALLY good!

I ended up designing my website based in one of the images Midjourney provided, and I actually learned a bunch with this exercise.
One thing, though, I will say: AI is getting better and better every day, for sure... but it feeds of HUMAN CREATIONS. Generated images were not "inspired", they were mashed up from a billion other images generated by us. It's a tool, and sure should be used like any other tool... but it's not yet at the point I can say it INSPIRED my work, more like it guided me to something I ALREADY had a vision for!
If anything... WE inspire the AI's. 🙃
